Kimi Peck sure was a CRATE LADY!
350+ animals lived with Kimi Peck in Burbank. She described the house 'Disneyland' and the warehouse a 'Sanctuary'. Most of the animals were living in crammed cages never getting out...the cages were not cleaned enough which meant the dogs lived in their own filth.
"I would describe the conditions as inhumane. There were so many animals whose feet never touched the ground. Their lives were in filthy dirty deplorable crates..." Dr. Mark Hohne, former veterinarian to Kimi Peck
"If the goal of the rescue was to provide temporary homes to unfortunate animals until permanent homes could be found, this goal was not met, nor was there any demonstrative intentions to do so. Kimi Peck certainly took in dogs, but, adopting out a dog was an uncommon event, allowing the number of dogs to increase, the conditions to worsen, and the abuse to become pervasive..." former volunteer, Joan
