It's a CRATE LIFE at Chihuahua Rescue and Sanctuary!
"I would describe the conditions as inhumane. There were so many animals whose feet never touched the ground. Their lives were in a crate. This was not short term. There were many animals that had been there for many years, usually Ms. Peck claimed they had a variety of 'chronic' medical conditions (that often changed with each excuse) who never received medication or a visit to the vet...I saw dogs on a regular basis with feces in their water. I saw dogs without any food or water. I saw dogs whose matted hair was full of feces. I saw dogs sitting in their own urine and feces day after day." former volunteer to Kimi Peck
*Former volunteers turned to the police to help the animals. This police report and Ms. Peck's own negligence ultimately lead to the court ordered closure of her Burbank 'Sanctuary'. Ms. Peck then moved to an area that does not have strict animal welfare laws. Over the course of 10 years, according to court documents and former landlords, Ms. Peck has been forced to shut down 'sanctuary' after 'sanctuary' every few years (she was even convicted twice of operating illegal kennels)- none of this stopped her from collecting more and more animals. Many former volunteers, landlords, vets and others feel Ms. Kimi Peck fits the description PERFECTLY of an ANIMAL HOARDER. Ms. Peck had a high of over 350 animals in her possession when she was raided by Burbank Animal Control right before the court ordered closure of this 'sanctuary'.
